Family Portraits
I enjoy working with people in groups and individually to create some great images. Whether it's an updated famliy portrait for your family, or a corporate shot for a product team, I can do so in a way that will be enjoyable and memorable.
The way I like to work on location shoots and events is to plan for and commit to a given time period in which we can set up, capture some great shots and let you get back to your friends and family. For me, unlike some portrait photographers, that means having lighting on hand in the form of Nikon's latest wireless strobe lights with light stands and umbrellas to get you fantastic images without regard to how the weather turns out or how the lighting is for your event. Lighting a group of people with even and flattering light is not a small feat and the Nikon Creative Lighting System ensures we can do it with great effect.
I generally plan to make myself available for 2 hours at the site. I'll need a half hour or a bit more so to set up a few lights and cameras and we can then bring your group together to start to capture images of groups in locations of your choosing.
When I leave you, I will process the 14 bit Nikon RAW NEF images I capture with the cameras in Adobe Lightroom and will select a number of images that will be placed in a secure gallery online. You will receive, usually within a day or two, a web address and password, and you'll be able to select the images you like by number. Once I have those numbers back from you I will refine and 'finish' those images in Adobe Photoshop and Nikon CaptureNX and create a second gallery of 'final images' for you. That gallery will remain online for at least 90 days and will allow you to easily share these images with all of your family.
You will be able to order images directly from our secure site including: High quality prints from 4" x 6" all the way up to 24" x 36" and 30" x 40", Canvas Prints actually printed on canvas and stretched on a frame up to 30"x40", and even mementos such as refrigerator magnets, coffee mugs and sweatshirts with pictures of your choosing. There is no minimum to purchase, the shoot fee and any purchases you make are separate, so if Aunt Susan wants five more of her children, she can go online with the password you share with the family and she can order them herself and they'll be sent right to her.
Additionally, as a fan of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Friendfeed and others, I recognize that you may wish to share these images in your own context like a family website or in your Facebook photo albums. We have made available personal use downloads as well so that you or others in the family can choose a given image/s in a size suitable for that kind of use and download it directly and immediately to your own PC or Mac to put on your iPod etc.
In terms of fees for the shoot, a family or company location shoot, where I am coming on location with lights to shoot a group, has a shooting fee of $449.00. There are no other travel charges or set up charges. For that fee, all of the shots listed above can be set up and captured and the images will be post-processed and placed in an initial gallery for your selection and then in a final gallery for sharing with the family. Charges for prints are listed below.
Please know that the back end of this process is handled by SmugMug who has established themselves very strongly with professional studios and event and wedding photographers for this kind of photo sharing and fulfillment.
